The Center for Behavioral Medicine’s Adult Mental Health program is for those age 18 and older who are dealing with mental illnesses. The goal of the program is to help individuals control their illnesses, while teaching life management skills to help them lead happier, more productive lives. For over two decades, Adult Mental Health has been serving patients who are dealing with depression, severe anxiety, personality disturbances, schizophrenia, eating disorders, bipolar disorder and the inability to function effectively in daily living environments.
Comprehensive Evaluations
On Adult Mental Health, we know that mental illnesses vary depending upon severity and type, therefore, each patient receives an individual comprehensive evaluation to determine the appropriate type of treatment based upon their needs. The evaluations are conducted by the multi-disciplinary team, which consists of a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurses, social worker, activity therapist and recreational therapist. Upon completion of the evaluation, an individualized treatment plan is developed with the patient.
Treatment Program
Every patient has differing strengths and needs, therefore Adult Mental Health uses a variety of therapies to respond to the varying issues of the patients. The interventions utilized with patients include: individual, group, and family therapy, chemotherapy, behavioral therapy, recreational therapy, activity therapy, and patient/family education. By focusing on enhancing life management skills through education, patients work to improve their coping skills, problem-solving skills, and interpersonal relationships, which lead to an improvement in quality of life.
