The TMH Foundation

Originating in 1961, the Trumbull Memorial Hospital Foundation continues to develop, manage and provide resources to improve the health and quality of life for the people of the communities it serves, Trumbull Memorial Hospital and Trumbull County residents.

Established as an endowment fund for memorial gifts and contributions, it was officially incorporated in 1976 and now serves as an outreach agent for Trumbull Memorial Hospital. The Foundation's assets currently stand at nearly 13 million dollars.

Originally intended to give financial assistance to, and thereby support the work of the hospital, the Foundation has moved beyond the walls of TMH into the community as well. Through its Healthy Community Initiatives Grant, the Foundation encourages partnership, networking and collaboration of area healthcare providers, state and/or government agencies, and private businesses. In the last four years it has awarded over $260,000.00 to worthy programs and projects in Trumbull County.

Staying true to its original intent, the Foundation has funded the purchase of a magnetic resonance unit, enlarged and relocated the Oncology Department, and expanded the Hospice unit housed at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Other no less significant projects have included assistance with prescriptions and food supplements for diabetic and cancer patients, a beeper program for families of critically ill patients, an Extend-A-Call Program that provides a lifeline to seniors living alone, a county wide Pediatric Asthma program in conjunction with Forum Health Asthma Center, and, most recently, established a new clinic to offer free and/or low cost medical services in an under-served, at risk area of Warren.

Community wide interest as well as reinvested support for the hospital provides a wealth of opportunities for collaboration. In 1998, The TMH Foundation, Forum Health and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital developed an onsite golf center. The GOLFF Center offers in-patient and outpatient therapy to physically challenged individuals by certified physical therapists. In conjunction with this effort and in cooperation with LPGA professionals, annual clinics are offered to encourage physically challenged and senior golfers to pursue their sport.

Commitment to all areas of health, the Foundation works with local schools, mental health organizations and a divers array of social agencies to address total wellness in health and healing.

It remains a unique entity in Trumbull County, devoted to making a significant, long-term impact on community health.
